‘BE KIND. BE THOUGHTFUL’

That message of support for restaurateurs from Justin Tisdall, Co-Owner of Vancouver’s Juke Fried Chicken and The Chickadee Room, comes from a recent story on @news1130radio.

It comes as businesses around BC await confirmation today from the government on how much longer the current restriction on dine-in service will be extended, but it could well be until the May long weekend.

Tisdall is one of many owners who have had to refocus their priorities on take-out and delivery in the interim in an effort to weather the latest storm, and he is urging the public to support their favourite local businesses whenever possible, but also to be as patient as they can with the staff who work there.

“If you’re going out and doing take-out, be kind. Staff are working really hard under a lot of pressure,” said Tisdall. “They have a lot of new service standards they have to (adhere to) and COVID protocols, so be kind. Be thoughtful.”

Tisdall has a good reason to celebrate this week — his Juke team is about to sell its millionth piece of chicken since the Chinatown hotspot opened five years ago.

To mark the occasion, Juke is giving one of its fans the chance to win Juke for a Year during a ‘Thanks a Million’ Giveaway. From today through Wednesday, April 21, one lucky guest who orders the one-millionth piece of Juke’s fried chicken for in-store pickup will win one ‘Juke Box’ (two pieces of chicken, 1/4 rack of ribs and side) per week for a year, plus a selection of Juke’s signature bottled sauces for a value of $1,000.

“One million pieces of chicken is a major milestone four our whole family and this is our way of saying ‘thanks a million’ to our loyal fans,” he says. “We genuinely appreciate all of their support, encouragement and love, especially over the past year.”

Stand tall. Stay strong. Show love. Support local.
