To get to the other THIGH!
It’s National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day!
In Vancouver, the Bawk stops at Juke Fried Chicken, with the hotspot offering its signature sammies — featuring its always-gluten-free, southern-fried chicken marinated for 24 hours in buttermilk and garnished with house-made BBQ sauce and slaw — for half price ($3.50) throughout the day.
Vancouver vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians have their own place and reason to celebrate the big occasion as well — West End plant-based restaurant Beetbox is also offering its Fried ‘Chick-Un’ sandwiches — which swap in breaded and fried seitan for chicken and are topped with miso aioli, iceberg lettuce and spicy pickled cucumber — are also being offered for half-price ($4.75) all day long.

Meanwhile, PIANO PIANO’s Harbord Street location is working with the city of Toronto for a potential patio — further bulletins as events warrant!
This Bonnie Determines
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry been a guiding light for a lot of us, doling out a daily dose of calm, cool and compassion throughout this pandemic and giving us useful tips to flatten curves and keep connected while staying apart.
In her honour, we’re rebranding ‘TBD’ to ‘This Bonnie Determines’. After all, she’s the one helping us figure out how far to extend our ‘bubbles’, who to mingle with and when to employ extra caution.
Be a good li’l travel buddy this weekend and throughout the summer and follow her rules. You know the ones: Be Kind. Be Calm. Be Safe. In other words, Be like Bonnie.
