‘Breaking’ News
Still here.
This powerful quote comes from Monica Samuel, Founder and Executive Director of Black Women In Motion — a Toronto-based, youth-led organization that empowers and supports the advancement of Black womxn and survivors of sexual violence.
It was our friend and lifestyle influencer Dorrington Reid who selected Black Women in Motion as his charity of choice, and we are so proud to help support them, spread the good word and further their cause.
‘Unapologetically Black’, the group lists its core values as ‘integrity, accountability, equality, inclusion, respect and collaboration’ — qualities that this world is in dire, desperate need of these days, and moving forward.
Meet Dorrington Reid
He might humbly bill himself as ‘Just a guy with an iPhone’ but Dorrington Reid is a true man about TO town and lifestyle influencer who has a trained eye for natural beauty and a true love of food and travel.
Some of Dorrington’s favourite Black-owned businesses as well as staff and entrepreneurs in The 6ix include Young Animal (formerly of Laylow Brewery), A Different Booklist, The Diner's Corner, Gro for It and the Stockyards Smokehouse.
Mumgry Monday
As we’ve learned over the past week, our efforts to listen, educate ourselves and lend a hand to those who struggle with systemic injustice, oppression, inequality and outright racism on a daily basis need us to be strong and resolute in our solidarity. To not just engage in good works and issue empathetic words now in this moment of great upheaval and change, but from now on.
We also want to give an additional shout-out to Lilian for launching #MUMGRYMONDAY — an ongoing initiative that allows you to nominate people to receive complimentary jars of MUMGRY products in recognition of their efforts to make a difference in their communities during the pandemic.
