It’s been a long, strange trip.

When we first launched Breaking Bread on March 13, 2020, things were dire. Not just here in Vancouver, but all around the country, the world. We were in the grips of a global pandemic, the likes of which the world had not experienced in more than a century. Restaurants closed their doors, some indefinitely. Communities locked down. We all were forced to do our best to stick together while staying six feet apart.

Now that there is a brighter light dawning on the horizon — vaccines are getting into arms, restaurants are re-opening their doors and we are returning to some sense of, dare we say it, normalcy — we feel like it's a good time to switch directions. We recognize that the world isn't out of the weeds yet, and we are aware that we are still in a period of flux that may last longer than we want to admit. We want to continue to be advocates for the industry and encourage our audience to support local whenever they can. We want to show our support the best way we can by helping you keep up to date on ever-changing regulations, exciting hospitality news and opportunities to gather safely again.
To the thousands of restaurants, cafes, bars, breweries and wineries that have joined us on this journey, we salute your steadfast resolve, perseverance and utmost resilience and pivot-ability. (Won’t it be nice to never use that word again?!) We couldn’t have done any of this without all of you and will remain in awe of how you rose to the top in a year that has sunk even the sturdiest of ships. We look forward to celebrating all your successes on this platform as well!
